Slovak Foreign Minister Jan Kubis travels to Prague to meet his Czech counterpart Karel Schwarzenberg. News conference at 1:20 p.m. (1220 GMT).

CEZ SALE IN CABINET

CROWN HITS TWO-MONTH HIGHS

The Czech crown firmed to near two-month highs versus the euro on Thursday on buying led by U.S. investment banks and growing market confidence that the economy was sustaining a robust pace of expansion.

HIGHER VAT RATE

The Finance Ministry is expected to recommend that the government increase the preferential value-added tax rate to 9 percent from current 5 percent. The higher base rate is to remain at 19 percent, writes the daily Pravo.

The government is planning to present a package of spending cuts and tax changes aimed at cutting a bloated fiscal deficit in early April.
