PRAGUE, April 26 (Reuters) - Temelin, the Czech Republic's biggest power station, shut down its 1,000 megawatt Unit 1 due to a pump failure early on Thursday but plans to bring it back online in the early hours of Friday, the plant's owner CEZ said.

Temelin shut the reactor, one of its two 1,000-megawatt units, just hours after re-connecting it to the grid following an unrelated pump repair.

"Technicians are currently running tests and if these bring a favourable result, we would like to synchronise the first bloc to the power distribution grid at around 2 a.m. (0000 GMT)," spokesman Vaclav Brom said.

Temelin has suffered several outages of Unit 1 following a re-launch in early April after a fuel exchange.

Unit 2 was running at full capacity on Thursday morning.

Temelin is the biggest asset of state-owned CEZ , Europe's second largest power exporter after France's EDF . The station accounts for 16 percent of CEZ's installed domestic capacity.
