MILAN, April 27 (Reuters) - Italy's Eni said on Friday it was acquiring from a unit of ExxonMobil 102 gasoline stations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, in a deal it said would double its presence in the region.
Eni, Europe's fourth-biggest oil company, did not say how much it would pay for the stations.
"This is an important operation," Eni Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni said in a statement.
"This acquisition will allow us to double our presence in these markets and to reach critical mass to increase the profile of our brand."
He said the deal created synergies with Eni's refinery in the Czech Republic, which will provide petrol products for the stations.
ExxonMobil will continue to operate its chemicals business in the three countries concerned. ExxonMobil's lubricant business is also included in the transaction.
