- Analysts surveyed by Reuters had expected industrial 
output to have risen by 13.3 percent on an annual basis in March 
 . 
- Manufacturing production, which has the strongest weighting in 
the index, rose 15.7 percent on the year in March, after a 20.4 
percent increase in the previous month. 
- Mining rose by 7.1 percent, after a 8.5 percent decline in 
February. 
- Production and distribution of electricity, gas and water 
fell by 7.0 percent, compared with a 9.8 percent decline in 
February. 
- Within manufacturing output, car production rose by 83.3 
percent from a year ago, after a 101.2 percent jump in 
February. 
- The automotive industry is the main driver of Slovakia's 
economy. 
     
MARKET REACTION: 
 - The crown showed no reaction to the data, trading unchanged 
at 33.580 per euro  as of 0715 GMT. It was at 33.550 
per euro late on Monday, and the market was closed for a 
national holiday on Tuesday.
