Czech Temelin shuts down Unit 1 as planned

...maintenance, the plant's owner CEZ said on Monday.

CEZ has said it will also exchange one quarter of the reactor's fuel during the break.

CEZ operates two 1,000-megawatt reactors at Temelin, which is near the Austrian border in the south. Unit 2 was running at full capacity on Monday morning, CEZ said.

Temelin is the biggest asset of state-owned CEZ, Europe's second largest power exporter after France's EDF .
