    SLOVAKS REJECT ALL BOND BIDS, BUDGET IN SHAPE 
    Slovakia continued on Monday to reject all bids in bond 
auctions as the government budget is in good shape and turbulent 
global markets reduced investors' appetite for riskier assets.

    ROAD TOLL SYSTEM TENDER STOPPED 
    The National Highway Company has cancelled a 20 billion 
crown ($802.9 million) tender for a new road toll system and 
will run it again from the start with amended conditions. The 
highway company said the delay would not endanger the planned 
launch of the toll system at the start of 2009.

    BUDGET PRIORITIES 
    The finance ministry has set aside 7.5 billion crowns in the 
2008 state budget for spending priorities, but allocation of the 
funds will be decided by the three ruling coalition parties. 
Analysts said the budget draft neither improved nor worsened 
fiscal conditions, but they criticised it for neglecting the 
education sector.

    PENSION SYSTEM CHANGES 
    The government and employers failed again to reach an 
agreement on proposed amendments to the pension system. 
Employers said the labour ministry's proposal would hurt next 
generations, slow wage growth and create room for tax frauds.

    SAMSUNG LURES MORE SUPPLIERS 
    South Korea's electronics maker Samsung has lured a sixth 
company to supply its new LCD plant in western Slovakia. Dongwoo 
Fine-Chem is expected to spend 120 million crowns ($4.82 
million) to build a new plant near Samsung's factory.

    Prime Minister Robert Fico expects the European Commission 
to declare the largest Slovak airport in Bratislava ready for 
the EU's borderless Schengen area.
