    Opposition Christian Democrats will hold a news conference 
on a healthcare ministry plan to withdraw the right of objection 
of conscience for doctors and nurses. 
     
    CBANK FOREX RESERVES DROP TO $17.7 BLN 
    The Slovak central bank's (NBS) foreign currency reserves 
dropped to $17.695 billion as of Aug. 22 from $17.786 billion a 
week ago, the bank said on Friday.

    ELECTRICITY PRICES 
    The government has approved a plan to levy new fees on 
businesses with own electricity sources. The state energy market 
regulator is expected to set the fees later this week.

    STOCK EXCHANGE VOLUME FALLS 
    Trading volumes at the Bratislava Stock Exchange fell by 
18.3 percent on the year in the first half of 2007. The 4,741 
transactions were worth 256.1 billion crowns ($10.29 billion) in
