"We had waited for this moment for a long time and want to enjoy it," said manager Karel Jarolim.
"The whole team appeared nervous, we played too little up front. That is why we had a chat at halftime and I think the second half was better."
Looking ahead to his team's likely finish in the group, he said: "We are thinking about the third spot, but we have to go into the matches and see what comes out of them."
Third spot in Group H, which also includes Arsenal and Sevilla, would rule them out the knockout stages but would provide the consolation of a UEFA Cup slot.
Steaua manager Gheorghe Hagi said: "This was a good Champions League match. Our performance was good, perhaps we deserved more, but our opponents played their game and played it well. They also had more luck because they were in front of the goal twice and scored twice.
"Unfortunately we did not manage much in term of effectiveness."
