Television broadcaster Central European Media Enterprises announced on Thursday higher than forecast third-quarter net revenue of $174.8...

...million.

CME, which is traded in Prague and on the U.S.-based Nasdaq, said net revenue for the quarter ended Sep. 30 rose 55 percent from $112.5 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The revenue figure forecast by a Reuters survey of six analysts was $153.2 million, in a $138-161 million range.

At 1431 GMT, CME shares traded on Nasdaq were up 3.7 percent at $117.91 while the Prague-traded shares were up 1.9 percent.

Operating income for the quarter rose to $34.9 million from $6.6 million last year. The diluted loss per share from ongoing operations was 45 cents, compared with an EPS of 15 cents a year ago.

CME Chief Executive Michael Garin said a strong Ukraine division performance underpinned the quarterly figures.

CME operates in six countries in Europe and derives nearly half its revenue from the Czech Republic, where it operates TV Nova, the market leader.
