Czech crown firms to lifetime highs vs euro, dlr

...the value of the U.S. currency sagged on global markets.

The crown rose as high as 26.794 per euro by 0950 GMT, breaking the previous record of 26.820 from Oct. 26. It scaled a new peak of 18.18 to the dollar , extending its year-on-year gains to 20 percent.

The crown has rallied 7.4 percent versus the euro since this year's lows in early July, tightening monetary conditions in the open economy and leading investors to scale back their bets on further interest rate hikes by the Czech central bank (CNB).
