TABLE-Czech leftist opposition widens lead to 6.3 pct

election, an opinion poll showed on Wednesday. 
    The poll by the private Factum Invenio agency put support 
for Social Democrats at 34.2 percent, up from 31.5 percent a 
month ago, while the Civic Democrats dropped to 27.9 percent, 
down from 30.2 last month. 
    The Civic Democrats rule in a shaky coalition with the 
centrist Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Green Party. 
    The survey directly contradicts a poll by the STEM agency 
last week, which put the Civic Democrats ahead. 
    Factum Invenio said its election model showed the 
three-party coalition would win just 94 seats in the 200-seat 
lower house of parliament if election was held now, with the 
other 106 seats going to the Social Democrats and the far-left 
Communists. 
    The next elections are not scheduled until 2010.

    NOTE. The latest Factum Invenio poll was conducted between 
November 8 and 14 among 1,001 Czechs eligible to vote.  
 The parties are: 
 - Civic Democratic Party (ODS) - right wing, 
liberal-conservative 
 - The Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD) - leftist 
 - Christian Democratic Union-Czechoslovak People's Party 
(KDU-CSL) - centrist 
 - The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM) - far left 
 - The Greens - environmentalists, centrist. 
   Pollsters: The FI and CVVM results are based on a model 
predicting gains at the poll box, excluding those not willing to 
vote and undecided. 
   STEM results are direct voter preferences, and include 
replies from all respondents including those not willing to 
vote. Parties should thus win a larger than indicated share of 
the vote at the election.
