Slovak crown falls to one month low vs euro

    At 1530 GMT the crown was at 33.570 per euro  after 
reaching 33.600 earlier in the session, its weakest since 
October 23. It closed at 33.450 on Wednesday. 
    "The main reason behind the crown weakening is the regional 
mood which is linked to lower risk appetite of investors," said 
VUB Bank chief trader Mario Mika. 
    The crown has been unaffected so far by deepening political 
crisis in Slovakia that threatened to break the ruling 
coalition, dealers said. 
    "Politics is not helping but I do not think this is a factor 
which is weakening the crown," Mika said. "If something negative 
emerges regarding the euro entry, then it would be a problem." 
    Prime Minister Robert Fico told his farm minister on 
Thursday to quit or be sacked because of accusations of 
corruption, a step that could dissolve the three-party ruling 
coalition in the run-up to the euro zone entry, planned for 
2009. 
    The crown has lost 2.2 percent since booking an eight-month 
peak of 32.830 per euro last week, and dealers said more losses 
were likely if the global sentiment remains shaky. Local trading 
activity was lower on Thursday due to holidays in the U.S.
