Sramko also told reporters in Frankfurt that inflation will be below the threshold for euro adoption when Slovakia's readiness for entering the common currency area is assessed next spring.

Slovakia would have to wait for an assessment on whether its inflation was sustainably low to adopt the euro, he said, but he was confident European Union authorities will judge the country ready to enter the euro zone as planned in 2009.
