- Manufacturing production, which has the strongest weighting in 
the index, rises 20.4 percent on the year in October, after a 
17.4 percent increase in the previous month. 
- Mining falls by 3.2 percent, after a 2.7 percent increase in 
September. 
- Production and distribution of electricity, gas and water 
falls by 6.2 percent, compared with a 2.4 percent decline in 
September. 
- Within manufacturing output, car production rises by 59.8 
percent from a year ago, after a 53.5 percent growth in 
September. 
- The automotive industry is the main driver of Slovakia's 
economy. 
     
     
 ANALYST COMMENT: 
    PIOTR MATYS, 4CAST LONDON 
    "This is significantly better than mkt expected of 13.3% 
y/y. The breakdown shows that manufacture of transport equipment 
increased further to 59.8% y/y in Oct from 53.5% y/y in Sep, 
when it bounced back after the summer period used for retooling 
and general maintenance work in car factors." 
    "With only two months left to meet the target of 550k cars, 
production in VW, PSA Peugeot Citroen and KIA Motors will 
continue to fuel total industrial production." 
    "Apart from this transport, Manufacture of electrical and 
optical equipment and Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum 
products and nuclear fuel also showed strong gains of 41.5% y/y 
and 49.9% y/y respectively."
