Czech power firm CEZ expects power prices for its end-user customers to rise less in 2009 than an 8 percent rise announced for 2008, Chief...

...Executive Martin Roman said on Wednesday.

"I believe that the price rise for the year after next should be lower than for 2008," Roman said in a live interview on radio Impuls.

He said CEZ had been selling two-year power contracts over the Prague energy bourse which should limit the price hike.

The eight percent rise refers to the final price for small CEZ customers, with the wholesale baseload power price excluding network services and other items rising 14.4 percent. (Reporting by Jan Lopatka; Editing by Paul Bolding)
