The Czech Finance Ministry has delayed the release of full-year 2007 central state budget data until Thursday, the ministry said....

The ministry had been expected to release the figures on Wednesday but Finance Minister Miroslav Kalousek called a news conference on the matter for 1230 GMT on Thursday.

The central European country had planned a deficit of 91.3 billion crowns ($5.07 billion), but the Finance Ministry has lowered the forecast to 81 billion due to better-than-expected tax collection fed by fast economic growth.

The central government budget is the main part of overall public sector balance, which the ministry has forecast at 3.4 percent of gross domestic product, up from 2.9 percent in 2006.

The government plans to slash the gap to 2.95 percent this year and 2.3 percent in 2010. (Reporting by Jan Lopatka)
