Slovakia - Factors To Watch on Dec 12

    BUDGET VOTE 
    Parliament is scheduled to vote on the 2007 state budget 
draft. The ruling coalition majority is expected to endorse the 
government draft, which cuts the fiscal gap to 2.9 percent of 
GDP. 
     
    OCT FOREIGN TRADE DATA 
    The Statistics Office will release October foreign trade 
data. Analysts had forecast a foreign trade gap of 4.1 billion 
crowns. 
     
    PM AT BUSINESS CONFERENCE 
    Prime Minister Robert Fico will address a business 
conference on government economic plans. 
     
    C.BANK TO HOLD REGULAR 2-WK REPO TENDER 
    The central bank will hold its regular two-week repo tender. 
     
    NOV CPI RISES, HIGHER RATES SEEN UNLIKELY 
    Slovakia's inflation was above forecasts in November due to 
higher gas and food costs, but analysts said a positive price 
outlook and firming crown currency may prevent monetary policy 
tightening.

    CROWN AT NEW HIGHS, SEEN TESTING KEY LEVEL 
    The Slovak crown gained 0.7 percent to hit an all-time high 
against the euro on Monday, and dealers said lasting investor 
interest was likely to push the unit further up in the near 
term.

    NOV CPI ABOVE MARKET FORECASTS 
    Slovak consumer prices rose by 0.6 percent month-on-month in 
November, putting the annual inflation rate at 4.3 percent, the 
Statistics Office said on Monday.

    SLOVAKIA SELLS SKK 985 MLN WORTH OF 20-YR BONDS 
    Slovakia sold 985 million crowns ($36.73 million) worth of 
20-year, 4.5 percent state bonds in an auction on Monday, The 
Finance Ministry's Debt and Liquidity Management Agency said.

Stredoslovenska Energetika will increase prices for electric
