PRAGUE, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Czech power group CEZ<CEZPsp.PR> said on Wednesday it plans to shut down the 1,000 megawatt Unit 1 at its Temelin nuclear power plant twice next year for regular maintenance.

CEZ added in a statement that the 1,000 megawatt Unit 2 will be closed once for maintenance in 2007.

Unit 1, it said, would close at the start of the year to exchange some of its fuel rods, while there will be a second shutdown for a further fuel exchange and other work sometime in the second half of the year.

It did not say how long the first Unit 1 closure would be, but the second closure will last 55 days.

The Unit 2 shutdown is also for a fuel exchange, but the firm did not specify when, or for how long, it would be.

Temelin is the biggest asset of state-owned utility CEZ. ((Reporting by Jan Korselt, writing by Alan Crosby; prague.newsroom@reuters.com; Reuters Messaging: alan.crosby.reuters.com@reuters.net; +420 224 190 477))
