BRATISLAVA, Nov 15 (Reuters) - The Slovak economy grew by a real 9.8 percent, year-on-year, in the third quarter, the Slovak Statistics Office said in its preliminary flash estimate of GDP data on Wednesday. KEY POINTS Q3 2006 Q2 2006 Q3 forecast (pct change y/y) +9.8 +6.7 +6.6 - The Statistics Office does not release detailed data in its flash GDP estimate. ANALYST COMMENTS: SILVIA CECHOVICOVA, ANALYST, CSOB, BRATISLAVA "It is a completely outstanding figure, which was not expected by anyone. I do not think the structure has changed since the previous quarter. It's good news for the crown but it's hard to say what will be the impact on the monetary policy, because we do not know the structure yet. If a strong rise in household consumption is confirmed, we can expect the central bank to hike interest rates again ... by at least 25 basis points." MARIA VALACHYOVA, ANALYST, SLOVENSKA SPORITELNA "The structure of growth will probably remain the same, which means mainly domestic demand. Within the domestic demand, there should be growth in household consumption and investments. A change in inventories may have also added to growth more than we expected." MARKET REACTION - The crown <EURSKK=> firmed to an all time high of 35.720 to the euro after the data were released, from 35.780 at the open. BACKGROUND - The third-quarter figure showed the fastest Slovak GDP growth ever. - Slovakia has been has been showing one of the highest growth rates in the European Union since it joined the union in 2004. - GDP growth has been helped by reviving domestic demand as households consumption rises after years of belt-tightening reforms. - Investments have also increased in the past year, mainly thanks to large project such as car factories of French PSA Peugeot <PEUP.PA> and South Korean Kia Motors <000270.KS>.
