PRAGUE, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Czech Skoda Auto, a unit of Germany's Volkswagen <VOWG.DE>, said on Friday its sales for the first three quarters of the year rose 11.1 percent year-on-year to 410,719 units.

Skoda Auto, the largest Czech exporter, said the performance was boosted by its best ever September, when 52,064 units were sold.

The statement said sales of the mid-size Octavia were the engine for the success, with 202,617 units sold for the first nine months, an 18.1 percent increase over the same period of the previous year.

Sales in central and eastern Europe were up 12.5 percent for the January-September period, with "very strong growth in Russia, Romania and the Baltic states".
