    BRATISLAVA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press

    Central Bank Governor Ivan Sramko will speak about 
Slovakia's economic outlook and euro adoption plans at an 
economic conference (0800 GMT) 
     
    C.BANK REPO TENDER 
    The central bank will hold its regular two-week repo tender. 
     
    BULLISH MOOD LIFTS CZECH, SLOVAK CROWNS TO HIGHS 
    The Czech and Slovak crowns firmed to record highs against 
the euro on Monday as expectations of a mild slowdown and an end 
to rate hikes in the United States reinforced a bullish mood on 
central European currency markets.

    EURO ENTRY GROWING MORE DISTANT FOR EU NEWCOMERS 
    Euro zone entry is becoming an increasingly distant prospect 
for most EU newcomers despite robust economic growth, because of 
high budget deficits and inflation, the European Commission said 
on Monday.

    DUTCH RETAILER TO SELL U.S. FOODSERVICE 
    Dutch food retailer Ahold <AHLN.AS> bowed to shareholders 
pressure on Monday and said it would sell its U.S. Foodservice 
business, the unit at the centre of a nearly 1 billion euro 
accounting scandal, as well as its U.S. Tops retail chain and 
operations in Poland and Slovakia.

    Foreign investment in Slovakia totalled 20.123 billion 
crowns ($704.7 million) in 2005, down by 36 percent from 2004, 
the daily Sme cites an economy ministry document as saying.

    KIA CONFIRMS SLOVAK OUTPUT PLANS 
    South Korean car maker Kia Motors Corp.s' <000270.KS> has 
confirmed the annual production in its Slovak plant will reach 
300,000 cars and 300,000 engines, the daily Sme quotes a 
spokesman for Kia Slovakia as saying.

    SNS MP JOINS MECIAR 
    Miroslav Kotian has left the far-right Slovak Nationalist 
Party (SNS) and joined the parliamentary caucus of SNS's 
coalition partner, the HZDS party of former Prime Minister 
Vladimir Meciar, the daily Pravda reports. It is the first 
change in parliamentary representation since June elections.

    SAB MILLER TO MERGE TWO SLOVAK BREWERIES 
    Brewer SABMiller plc <SAB.L> said it would merge its two 
Slovak units, the country's second largest brewery Saris and the 
third biggest Topvar, in 2007, the daily Hospodarske Noviny
