Czech Republic - Factors To Watch on Nov 9

NINE-MONTH RESULTS

Czech downstream oil processor Unipetrol <UNPEsp.PR> on Thursday posted a 27-percent rise in its consolidated nine-month net profit compared with a year earlier.

Komercni Banka <BKOMsp.PR> and Bermuda-based Central European Media Enterprises (CME) <CETVsp.PR> are also expected to release nine-month results on Thursday. Komercni will publish their results at 0900 GMT, while there is not set time for CME.

ECONOMIC DATA RELEASES

The Czech Statistical Bureau (CSU) is to release September industrial output at 0800 GMT.

CENTRAL BANK MEETING

The Czech central bank board is to hold a regular weekly meeting, but no monetary policy issues are expected to be discussed.

TOPOLANEK APPOINTED PM AGAIN

Czech President Vaclav Klaus appointed rightist leader Mirek Topolanek as prime minister on Wednesday for the second time since an inconclusive June election left parliament deadlocked.

Topolanek faces a tough task to cobble together a government that could win a parliamentary confidence vote because both leftist and centre-right blocs in the lower house control 100 seats.

TOBACCO TAX RISE APPROVED

Czech lawmakers approved on Wednesday a lower than originally proposed increase in excise tax on tobacco from 2007, matching the minimum level required by the EU and raising the spectre of a shortfall in budget revenue.
