RPT-TABLE-Czech rightists raise lead amid parliament crisis

    Nov 10 (Reuters) - The Czech rightist Civic Democrats have 
markedly increased their lead over the leftist Social Democrats 
as the country struggles through a parliamentary crisis that 
resulted from an inconclusive election, a poll showed on Friday. 
    Civic Democrat leader Mirek Topolanek was nominated as prime 
minister this week and is now searching to end the stalemate 
after leftist and centre-right parties each won 100 seats in a 
June general election. 
    It is the second time since the June election that Topolanek 
has been appointed to the post. A minority Civic Democrat 
government lost a confidence vote in the lower house last month 
but remains in office as a caretaker administration. 
    The Civic Democrats want a technocrat government and an 
early election next year, while the Social Democrats want a 
grand coalition of the two biggest parties, which would rule for 
two years before a fresh vote. 
    The poll by the Factum Invenio agency was conducted between 
Nov. 2-9 among 963 Czechs. 
    It showed the Civic Democrats would come close to being able 
to form a majority government on their with 96 seats in the 
200-seat lower house if an election were held in November.

   Pollsters: The FI and CVVM results are based on a model 
predicting gains at the poll box, excluding those not willing to 
vote and undecided. 
   STEM results are direct voter preferences, and include 
replies from all respondents including those not willing to 
vote. Parties should thus win a larger than indicated share of 
the vote at the election.
