PRAGUE, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Czech power firm CEZ <CEZPsp.PR> has teamed up with AES <AES.N> of the United States to bid for building a power station in Kosovo, CEZ said on Friday.

The provisional Kosovo government has been looking for firms interested in building coal-fired power station with capacity of up to 2,100 megawatts.

The project includes development of new lignite mines and reconstruction of an existing power station.

CEZ, the largest central European company, with market capitalisation of $23 billion, has been seeking to grow in south-eastern Europe.

A CEZ spokeswoman said the size of the investment would depend on technology chosen for the power station.

CEZ stock traded 0.81 percent up at 1235 GMT, slightly outperforming the PX <.PX> index which stood 0.58 percent up.

According to media reports, a number of foreign companies have shown preliminary interest in the tender in the southern Serb province, which has been run by the United nations since 1999.
