PRAGUE, Sept 19 (Reuters) - The largest Czech steel producer Mittal Steel Ostrava plans to lay off a further 2,200 workers over the next three years, news agency CTK said on Tuesday.
The unit of global steel giant Arcelor Mittal <MTP.PA> said the lay-offs would come on top of the earlier announced 1,300 redundancies this year.
The agency quoted personnel director Jiri Gwozdz as saying that the aim was to have 6,300 employees and productivity of 500 tonnes of steel per worker, up from a current 300 tonnes.
The firms' spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment. ((Reporting by Jan Lopatka, editing by Greg Mahlich; prague.newsroom@reuters.com; Reuters Messaging: jan.lopatka.reuters.com@reuters.net; +420-224 190 474))
