Czech crown steady as mkt awaits confidence vote

PRAGUE, Oct 2 (Reuters) - The Czech crown held steady in a narrow range on Monday as the market awaited for a parliamentary confidence vote in Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek's government this week.

At 1455 GMT the currency traded at 28.277 <EURCZK=>, down 0.01 percent from late on Friday.

"The market was quiet and is clearly watching for the outcome of the confidence vote," said Miroslav Frayer of Komercni Banka.

Since a June 2-3 general election parliament has been deadlocked, with leftist and centre-right parties each controlling 100 seats.

Topolanek, whose Civic Democrats won the most votes and seats but not a majority, was nominated by President Vaclav Klaus as prime minister.

But four months on, he still does not have the single leftist deputy needed to see his government survive the confidence vote, expected Tuesday or Wednesday.
