BRATISLAVA, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Slovak industrial output rose by a real 13.7 percent year-on-year in August, up from 8.3 percent growth in July, the Slovak Statistics Office said on Monday. KEU POINTS: INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT Aug/06 July/06 Aug/05 pct change yr/yr 13.7 8.3 4.4 - Analysts surveyed by Reuters had expected industrial output to have risen by 9.5 percent on an annual basis in August <SK/ECON04> <SK/ECON09>. - Manufacturing production, which has the strongest weighting in the index, rises 17.2 percent on the year in August, more than 12.7 percent growth in the previous month. - Mining remains in negative territory, falling by 11.7 percent after a 15.5 percent drop in July. - Production and distribution of electricity, gas and water fell by 3.7 percent, compared with a 14.9 percent drop in July. - Within manufacturing output, car production surged by 70.3 percent from a year ago, after a 27.6 percent rise in July. - The automotive industry is the main pillar of Slovakia's economy and swings in its activity can significantly influence the country's overall economic performance. MARKET REACTION: - The Slovak crown shows no visible reaction to the data. It is quoted at 37.110 to the euro <EURSKK=> at 0700 GMT, just after the data were released. It closed at 37.115 late on Friday.
