Nov 24 (Reuters) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus picked economist Vladimir Tomsik as a new member of the seven-seat central bank board on Friday.
The following are key facts on Tomsik:
* Born on June 12, 1974 in eastern Czech Republic.
* Has Ph.Ds in economic policy from the University of Economics (VSE) in Prague and in economics from the Charles University, Prague.
* Is an associate professor at the VSE.
* Taught monetary policy and macroeconomic analysis and forecasting courses at the VSE in 1997-2005.
* Worked as chief analyst at private financial group NEWTON.
* Joined the World Trade Institute in Switzerland in 2005, where he analyses multilateral trade and investment deals.
* Regularly publishes articles and papers on topics including inflation targetting, economic forecasts, and economic convergence toward western Europe. Has co-authored economic textbooks on the topics.
