PRAGUE, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Vladimir Tomsik, who will join the Czech central bank's policy board next week, said on Friday he would not pursue purely theoretical views on monetary policy and would seek to be pragmatic about decisions.

"It is necessary to have a pragmatic view of things. One cannot come to the bank as a theoretician," Tomsik told Reuters in a telephone interview from Canada where he has been on a mission with the World Trade Institute where he currently works.

The 32-year-old academic was picked by President Vaclav Klaus to replace one of the two of seven central bank policymakers whose six-year mandates end on Nov. 30.
