    BRATISLAVA, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press 
reports and events to watch which may affect Slovak financial 
markets on Wednesday. 
     
    SEPT INFLATION DATA 
    The Statistics Office will release September headline and 
core inflation data. The market expects consumer prices to be 
flat on the month, putting the annual inflation rate at 4.9 
percent. (0700 GMT) 
     
    GOVT TO DEBATE 2007 BUDGET DRAFT 
    Regular government meeting. Ministers are expected to debate 
the final draft of the 2007 state budget. 
     
    DRAFT 2007 BUDGET KEEPS SLOVAKS ON EURO PATH 
    Slovakia's proposed 2007 state budget draft, to be approved 
by the government this week, keeps the country on track to adopt 
the euro in 2009 despite increased social spending.

    EU NEWCOMERS FIRM ON SCHENGEN, ETHNIC ISSUES WEIGH 
    Leaders of the four biggest European Union newcomres 
emphasised on Tuesday their desire to join the bloc's 
border-free zone next year, despite signals from the European 
Commission of a possible delay.

    AUG RETAIL SALES +8.0 PCT YR/YR 
    Slovak retail sales rose by a real 8.0 percent year-on-year 
in August, slowing from an 8.5 percent annual increase in July, 
data from the Slovak Statistics Office released on Tuesday 
showed.

    AUG REAL AVERAGE IND WAGE +1.3 PCT Y/Y 
    The real average industrial wage in Slovakia rose by 1.3 
percent year-on-year in August, compared with a 3.1 percent 
annual rise in July, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

    CROWN CLIMBS TO NEW 7-MONTH PEAK VS EURO 
    The Slovak crown firmed on Tuesday, briefly touching a new 
seven-month high of 36.950 against the euro, helped by 
strengthening in other central European markets, dealers said.

    CBANK REPO DRAINS SKK 148.7 BLN FROM MKT 
    The Slovak central bank (NBS) accepted all bids in its 
regular two-week repo tender on Tuesday, draining 148.660 
billion crowns ($5.04 billion) from the money market, NBS data 
showed.

    Finance Minister Jan Pociatek said he was satisfied with the 
final draft of the 2007 state budget, which is expected to be

    SLOVAK, HUNGARIAN PM CALL OFF MEETING 
    Hungary's Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany and his Slovak 
counterpart Robert Fico called off a planned bilateral meeting 
on Tuesday amid differences over allegations of violence against 
ethnic Hungarians, which Budapest blames on the presence of the 
far-right nationalists in Fico's cabinet.
