The new Czech centre-right government led by Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek won a parliamentary confidence vote on Friday, ending nearly eight ...

...months of political deadlock.

Topolanek's three-party coalition won 100 votes in the 200-seat lower house, but the absence of two rebel opposition deputies allowed his cabinet to win the vote as only 97 opposition deputies voted against the government.

One deputy abstained from voting, but was present in the lower house.
