FOCUS ON JANUARY INFLATION

January consumer inflation numbers, closely watched for clues about near-term outlook for interest rates, are due out at 9 a.m. (0800 GMT).

Analysts polled by Reuters forecast 1.6 percent monthly gain in consumer prices, which would have put the year-on-year inflation rate at 1.9 percent , up from 1.7 percent in December.

But the statistics office updated the basket of goods and services used to calculate the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which analysts said heightened uncertainty over the January outcome.

December industrial output and foreign trade prices are also due for release at 9 a.m. (0800 GMT). January monetary base is due for publication at 10 a.m. (0900 GMT).
