Czech chemicals group Unipetrol and its subsidiary Kaucuk have filed a suit with the European Court of First Instance against a 17.6 million euro ($23.1 million) fine levied by the European Commission last year, Unipetrol said on Monday.
Kaucuk, which Unipetrol has meanwhile agreed to sell to Poland's Dwory , was among five firms fined a total of 519 million euros last year for a cartel agreement on synthetic rubber prices.
"The suitors jointly claim that the evidence does not suggest that a representative of Kaucuk engaged in any anti-competitive activity," Unipetrol said in a statement.
Unipetrol is majority-owned by Poland's PKN Orlen .
