INDUSTRY MINISTER FAVOURS CEZ STAKE FLOAT

Industry Minister Martin Riman told the daily Hospodarske Noviny on Tuesday that he favours an unrestricted float of up to 7 percent of state-controlled power utility CEZ as a way to plug a hole in the state budget.

COAL PRICE HIKE?

The business daily Hospodarske Noviny reports, without citing a source, that brown coal prices will increase in 2008 by some 14 percent due to new environmental taxes. The government has said the increase would be no higher than 10 percent.

UNIPETROL FIGHTING FINE

Czech chemicals group Unipetrol and its subsidiary Kaucuk said on Monday they have filed a suit with the European Court of First Instance against a 17.6 million euro ($23.1 million) fine levied by the European Commission last year.
