    Italy's Enel  will invest 110 billion crowns ($4.20 
billion) in a nuclear power plant and other capacities in 
Slovakia to make it a base for its 
central and eastern European business, officials said on 
Friday.

    SLOVAK FINMIN SEES 9 PCT GDP GROWTH IN 2007 
    Slovakia's gross domestic product (GDP) will probably rise 
by 9 percent this year, more than originally expected, Slovak 
Finance Minister Jan Pociatek was quoted as saying on Friday.

    SLOVAK CROWN TREADS WATER, EYES CBANK RATE MEETING 
    The Slovak crown was little changed against the euro in 
low-key Friday trade as players eyed the central bank's (NBS)

    SLOVAK TROOPS BACK FROM IRAQ 
    Slovak army engineers have returned home from Iraq, where 
they had served for 2003. Prime Minister Robert Fico pulled 
Slovak troops from Iraq to fulfil his promise from 2006 election 
campaign.

    LABOUR CODE DEBATE 
    Prime Minister Robert Fico insists the new labour code must 
better protect workers rights. The social affairs ministry is 
currently preparing a new labour code draft, amid criticism from 
opposition and economic analysts that the new legislation will 
have a negative impact on the job market.

    CROWN SEEN RISING 
    The Slovak crown should continue bringing attractive returns 
to investors in 2007, analysts say. Economists expect the crown 
to rise by some 5 to 7 percent this year, after a 9 percent gain 
in 2006.
