SINGAPORE, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Gold prices were steady on Tuesday, as investors await a raft of data, including China's inflation reading and the euro zone's economic growth numbers, after prices have been stuck in narrow ranges in the past few sessions.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Spot gold was little changed at $1,362.10 an ounce by 0023 GMT. Prices ranged between $1,348 and $1,368 in the past five sessions.
* U.S. gold futures edged down 0.2 percent to $1,362.8.
* China is expected to release January's consumer price index and loan data later in the day. The inflation number was expected to stay elevated, preparing the way for more tightening of monetary policy even if there is a mild downside surprise.
* Copper hit a record high on Monday, boosted by a surprise jump in China's imports, which reinforced prospects for robust global demand and raised hopes of extended restocking by the world's top consumer.
* Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust , the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, remained unchanged at 1,225.526 tonnes.
* Holdings in the iShares Silver Trust gained 22.78 tonnes to 10,411.23 tonnes by Feb 14.
* Spot silver edge down 0.2 percent at $30.53, after hitting a six-week high of $30.71 in the previous session.
MARKET NEWS
* Energy and commodity shares lifted Wall Street to modest gains on Monday, but the lowest volume so far this year indicated the equity rally may be near a top.
* The euro nursed losses early in Asia on Tuesday, having fallen to a three-week low and may struggle to gain traction after a meeting of European finance ministers ended with no concrete solution to the region's fiscal problems.
