SEOUL, April 4 (Reuters) - U.S. crude prices extended gains in early Asian trade on Monday as geopolitical unrest in the Middle East and Africa stoked concerns about oil supply.rr
FUNDAMENTALS
* NYMEX crude for May <CLc1> was up 44 cents at $108.38 a barrel by 2318 GMT, hovering at a 2-1/2 year peak after settling at $107.94 on Friday.
* ICE Brent crude <LCOc1> increased by 24 cents to $118.94 a barrel vs a settlement price of $118.70.
* Gulf Arab states voiced deep concern on Sunday over what they called Iranian interference in their affairs after Iran objected to the despatch of Saudi troops to Bahrain and a spying row raised tensions. [
]* A Libyan minister told Greece's prime minister on Sunday that Tripoli wanted fighting to end, while a Turkish ship evacuated wounded from the besieged city of Misrata, leaving thousands more pleading to be rescued. [
]* Two Yemenis died and hundreds were hurt on Sunday when police used live rounds, tear gas and batons to try to break up protests against President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who called for an end to weeks of unrest. [
]* Bahrain suspended the Gulf Arab state's main opposition newspaper on Sunday, after accusing it of falsifying news about sectarian unrest and a government crackdown on protests. [
]* In Oman, which pumps out 864,000 barrels of oil a day, protesters on Sunday vowed to return to the area where they demonstrated for five weeks in the northeast industrial town of Sohar after security forces moved them out last week.[
]* OPEC-member Nigeria postponed parliamentary and presidential elections by one week on Sunday after failing to get logistics prepared in time, a major embarrassment for a nation hoping to break with a history of chaotic polls. [

MARKETS NEWS
* The euro hit fresh 11-month highs against a broadly weaker yen early in Asia on Monday and held firm against the dollar with markets all but certain the European Central Bank will raise interest rates this week.
* U.S. stocks started a traditionally healthy month on strong footing on Friday after solid jobs figures. The Dow closed up 0.46 percent at 12,376.72, and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 0.50 percent to 1,332.41. [
