TOKYO, Nov 24 (Reuters) - U.S. crude futures edged lower on Tuesday although they held above $77 a barrel, with the market worried about high oil inventories and tepid demand.
FUNDAMENTALS
* NYMEX crude for January delivery <CLc1> was down 23 cents at $77.33 a barrel by 0009 GMT.
On Monday, it settled up 9 cents at $77.56 after hitting a high of $79.92 earlier.
* Monday's small gain came after a weak dollar and strong U.S. housing data lifted expectations for economic growth.
* A Reuters survey of analysts forecast weekly U.S. inventory data will show a 1.6 million barrel build in crude stocks for the week to Nov. 20. Product stocks were also seen higher ahead of the release of the weekly report by the American Petroleum Institute at 2130 GMT. [
]* Winter in the the eastern region of the United States will be colder than normal this year, private weather forecaster WSI Corp said on Monday. [
]MARKETS NEWS
* U.S. stocks snapped a three-day losing streak on Monday as stronger-than-expected home sales data fueled optimism while a weaker dollar boosted commodity-linked stocks. [
]* The dollar fell against a basket of currencies on Monday after comments from a senior Federal Reserve official reinforced expectations U.S. interest rates would stay low for some time. [
