Central and east European banks are among the region's top gainers after better than expected U.S. economic growth data gave investors hope that the world's largest economy could help lead a global recovery.
Pekao <BAPE.WA>, Poland's top bank by assets, gains 4 percent, while local rivals PKO BP <PKOB.WA> and BZ WBK <BZWB.WA> rise 2.9 and 2.6 percent. Hungary's largest lender OTP <OTPB.BU> rises 2.3 percent.

Deutsche Bank initiates coverage of Polish chemicals producer Pulawy <PULW.WA> with "hold" and its peer Police <PICE.WA> with "sell" ratings in a report dated August 27.
The brokerage set its target prices for the stocks at 98 zlotys for Pulawy and 15.4 zlotys for Police.
Pulawy shares fall 3.0 percent to 97 zlotys, while Police is down 4.1 percent to 16.68 zlotys.
