The U.S. Honeywell <HON.N>, the world's largest maker of cockpit electronics, eyes a new investment project in a region of eastern Slovak town of Presov, creating some 600 jobs. Slovakia competes with Poland to lure Honeywell's project.

HOCHTIEF CUTS PRICE FOR HIGHWAY
A consortium led by German builder Hochtief <HOTG.DE> offered a 30 percent discount on a planned highway project in northern Slovakia, the Transport Minister Jan Figel said. Slovaks awarded a concession to the consortium in January.
Under new terms Slovakia would pay an annual payment worth around 194 million euros, down from original 277 million euros.

WINE CROP DROPS BY HALF
Wine crop in Slovakia will be one of the worst in years, with producers reporting an up to 50 percent drop, due to bad weather, heavy rains. Price were not expected to rise.

PRICES OF HIGHWAY STAMP WILL RISE
The government approved a 40 percent hike in prices of highway stamp, effective from next January. Price of an annual stamp will rise to 50 euros from current 36 euros.
