Polish gas monopoly PGNiG <PGNI.WA> is in talks to import compressed gas by sea, with Canada's Cosell and Norway's Knutsen interested in providing the technology, Parkiet writes.
ENEA
Polish treasury may today announce that this year's largest planned Warsaw IPO of power group ENEA would be put off because of weak markets, daily Rzeczpospolita reports.
AGORA
Polish media group Agora <AGOD.WA> may ink deal to buy a 33 percent stake in news channel Superstacja this week for 20 million zlotys, Rzeczpospolita reports.
GENERAL MOTORS
General Motors <GM.N> temporary suspends the production of Opel cars at its Polish factory in Gliwice as part of a wider move due to weak demand for cars, Rzeczpospolita writes.
J.W. CONSTRUCTION
Poland's largest homebuilder J.W. Construction <JWCA.WA> is likely to come very close to meeting its 2008 forecast despite the market instability, its supervisory board head tells Parkiet.
CFR MARFA
The planned sale of Romanian rail freight company CFR Marfa SA will be one of the top privatisations in 2009, the transport minister is quoted as saying by Ziarul Financiar.
PEUGEOT
Romania is on French carmaker Peugeot Citroen's <PEUP.PA> list of possible locations to build an engine plant, Ziarul Financiar quotes Peugeot managing director as saying.
MILLENNIUM
Polish bank Millennium <BIGW.WA> reports a net profit of 126 million zlotys ($49.72 million) in the third quarter of 2008, slightly below the 127 million netted year before. The bank's nine-month profit rose 11.3 percent year-on-year to 378 million zlotys. [

European stock index futures pointed to a sharp drop on Wednesday, as fears over the credit crisis continued to knock global equity markets lower.

WALL STREET
U.S. stocks tumbled for a fifth straight session on Tuesday, capping the Dow's biggest five-day point loss ever, as fears mounted that the rapidly spreading credit crisis would drag the economy into a deep recession.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke did little to reassure markets when he cautioned that downside risks to economic growth have worsened, though he did signal a readiness to lower interest rates.
