OUTPUT FALLS SHARPLY AGAIN IN MAY
Slovak industrial output fell by a worse-than-expected 23.9 percent year-on-year in May, following a revised annual fall of 24.7 percent in April, the Slovak Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

POCIATEK ON TAXES
Finance Minister Jan Pociatek told Financial Times he considers hike in alcohol and gambling taxes in an attempt to cut the widening fiscal deficit. Analysts, however, fear the government could hike income tax later as well.

CO2 EMISSION DEAL IN DOUBT
The government could re-design the controversial contract with U.S.-based Interblue Group on sale of Slovakia's carbon emissions under the Kyoto Protocol, or cancel the deal. Media reported Interblue sold a tonne for not less than 9 eur/tonne to Japan companies, after paying 5 eur/tonne to Slovakia.

Storms and severe weather over the past few weeks will hit Slovakia's crop of grains and rape-seeds, farmers said, adding they expected a 20 percent annual drop.
