 C.BANKER ON POLICY: The Czech crown currency's firming
cannot be explained by fundamental trends, daily E15 quoted
central bank Vice-Governor Mojmir Hampl as saying.
                                
 Hampl said it seemed that there were somewhat more
demand-side pressures in the economy than he had thought at the
end of the last year, but he added that risks to inflation were
on both sides, making decision making on policy extraordinarily
difficult.

 GDP GROWTH: The Czech economy expanded by 6.6 percent
year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2007, less than previously
